A 30-year-old man was found dead inside his home in Detroit after an explosion Sunday, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources said.
An autopsy has been ordered, which is expected to take a week.
It was not immediately clear whether the man died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
The cause of the explosion was still under investigation.
Authorities had closed parts of a block around the house because of the gas explosion.
A worker had noticed smoke coming from the house and called the police.
Officials were still trying to figure out exactly how the house was destroyed.
